Former West Brom player and coach Brian Whitehouse dies
Former Albion player and coach Brian Whitehouse has died aged 81 after a short illness.
Although he only played 46 times for the Baggies, Whitehouse scored both goals in the 1957 FA Cup semi-final against Aston Villa.
He returned to The Hawthorns in 1971 as a coach when Don Howe became manager.
Whitehouse took charge of three games as caretaker manager in 1975 after Howe left the club and gave future England captain Bryan Robson his debut at the age of 18.
He stayed on as coach under both Johnny Giles and Ron Atkinson during Albion's successful period in the late 1970s.
A statement on the Former Players' Association website said: "Our sincere condolences go to his wife Barbara, his son Adam, his wife Serena and grandchildren Matthew, Nicholas, Amy and Olivia, a family of Albion supporters.
"We have lost a friend, supporter and much more a very nice and warm gentleman. Your presence will be greatly missed."
