West Brom weigh up loan move for Mamadou Sakho
Albion are contemplating offering exiled Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho a loan move in January.
The 26-year-old has been frozen out of Jurgen Klopp's team since April and will be allowed to leave Anfield if a deal can be agreed.
However, the Baggies are planning to wait until the end of the transfer window when their business has finished before filling their final loan space.
Head coach Tony Pulis tried to bring Sakho in on a temporary basis in the summer, and he is willing to return for the Frenchman again in January.
But Albion are aware the squad has more pressing issues to deal with and are hoping to sign a striker in January to bolster their threadbare front line.
If they are unable to pick up a permanent signing up front then they will look at possible loanees.
Premier League clubs can only have two players on loan at any one time from other clubs in the division and the Baggies have just one slot left after signing Everton's 20-year-old defender Brendan Galloway for the season.
Sakho rejected a loan move to The Hawthorns in the summer, but the centre-back hasn't been named in any of Klopp's squads so far this season.
His recent career has been plagued with controversy. In April he failed a drugs test and served a 30-day suspension, although Uefa later dismissed the case, clearing Sakho's name.
In August, Klopp sent him home from Liverpool's pre-season tour of the United States for breaking club rules on three separate occasions.
