This Somerset batsman just hit seven runs off one ball in the Natwest T20 Blast

You don’t see this every day.

Cricket might seem a complex game in some parts, but the scoring system is quite rudimentary – run as many runs between the wickets as you like, or hit a four or a six.

Occasionally you might see a player score five if their shot strikes a protective helmet belonging to the fielding side that has been left on the ground within the field of play, but rarely do you ever hear of a seven.

Well, this is how you score one if ever you’d like to give it a go, although you’ll be relying on some unlikely fielding.

That’s Somerset’s Steve Davies hitting what initially looked like a four, that turned into the lesser-spotted seven in his side’s Natwest T20 Blast game against the Kent Spitfires.

Davies was on 14 and immediately moved to 21, before reaching 62 off 32 balls in a wonderful innings that helped Somerset reach 197/6.

The official scorecard says Davies hit seven fours and two sixes, but that’s not QUITE right now, is it?
