Morrison ‘apologetic’ for Derby video – Warnock

Cardiff captain Sean Morrison has apologised to manager Neil Warnock for a foul-mouthed video that has overshadowed the build-up to Friday’s Sky Bet Championship clash with Wolves.

The second tier’s top two go toe-to-toe at the Cardiff City Stadium as promotion to the Premier League comes into sight, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s Wolves currently six points clear of the second-placed Bluebirds.

Warnock’s side can cut the gap on Friday and boast a game in hand on the Championship leaders after last month’s clash at Derby was controversially postponed.

The rearranged fixture should make for an interesting viewing after a foul-mouthed video was leaked of Cardiff captain Morrison calling out Derby players Richard Keogh and Alex Pearce along with Jason Shackell, who is currently on loan from the Rams at Millwall.

Warnock has been assured it was “just a lot banter” between friends, but made his frustration and disappointment known to the Bluebirds skipper.

“He was apologetic, he said ‘these things are said between was between pals, we’ve known each other for many years’,” Cardiff boss Warnock said, as reported by Wales Online.

“I’ve seen the (video) they sent us – there’d be more headlines in that if we let that go out!

“I’m not on social media, I don’t even know how to switch one on! I don’t understand it, but it was in good banter and it was two weeks ago.

“I don’t want us to get our own back… let’s move on.

“Social media is a dangerous thing and they’ve got to be warned about that. It may be just a flippant comment, but nothing is sacred these days, it frightens me to death just answering the phone!

“I’ve had a chat with him and told him I’m disappointed in him.

“Even if it was in jest between mates, you can’t condone that sort of language and I think he understands that. Let that to be a warning to everyone, you’ve got to be careful. It’s dangerous.

“It’s only gone on their Snapchat and things, but it only takes one in the group to put it out. I’ve told Morrison I don’t want any of the Derby videos going out.

“We’ve all had a laugh and done it, but my wife wasn’t happy with the language when I showed her that.

“They’re two high-spirited teams with a lot of rivalry and a lot of friendship but alcohol is a funny thing, isn’t it?”

Cardiff snatched a late 1-1 draw at Sheffield United on Monday, while Wolves come into the match off the back of Tuesday’s 2-2 draw with Hull.

“This is the hardest competition in the world, the Championship is like this,” boss Nuno said after the match.

“We have two days and then go to face Cardiff, now it’s time to rest and look, and we go there to compete.”
