Wolves make plans to host speedway
Wolverhampton Speedway owner Chris Van Straaten has welcomed plans to restructure the fixture list to allow some league racing this season.
But Van Straaten admits he expects the best case scenario to be a late season schedule starting in August.
“I was encouraged by a chat we all had as Premiership promoters this week with us all comparing notes,” he said. “We will continue to press ahead with our plans for a season and, of course, we will await the crucial government update in early July regarding the next phase of dealing with the situation.
“I would love to be able to host regular Monday night racing in August, September and October. In my opinion we must continue to plan ahead with the correct measures in place for when we can start.
“The fact that this year to date has seen probably near perfect speedway weather in the Midlands adds to the frustration felt by everyone!”
