Schlein, who will quit speedway at the end of the season to relocate his family back to Australia, has landed work as a delivery driver.

“I have been keeping myself pretty busy by picking up some work doing a bit of delivery five days a week, I am pretty flat out and probably busier than when I am racing,” Schlein said.

“No-one has ever been prepared for anything like this, everyone is doing this for the first time. I am out working every day but fitness-wise I am doing everything I can to stay on top of things.

“We don’t know when we will be throwing our legs back over, we are living day by day.

“Preparation has pretty much gone out of the window and I think everyone will be on the same playing field if the season does get up and going.

“Everyone will have to make do with what they have done and get the best out of what they have.”
