With the play-offs now fading into the distance, the club are determined to round the season off with some good performances after recent defeats at Belle Vue and Leicester.

They stage their final home league meeting on Monday against Kent before two legs of Cup action against the powerhouse Belle Vue Colts. And an announcement regarding the showpiece Golden Hammer event and whether that will go ahead is expected soon.

Tom Spencer makes a welcome return to the Heathens side at Plymouth and talented teenager Harry McGurk is also back thanks to approved leave from school. But they are sweating on the fitness of Danny Halsey, who aggravated an old injury in the defeat at Leicester. Ryan Terry-Daley covers for Luke Harris, who is on Championship duty.

Boss Will Pottinger said: “You can’t fault these boys for effort but ultimately we have come up short this season.

“We just want to see the boys finish the season on a positive note and hopefully we can pick up a win or two before it’s all over.”
