Track Talk: Thorsell fit and raring to go for Wolves
Jacob Thorssell insists there is no hangover from his pre-season injury.
The Wolverhampton racer has done a solid job since coming back into the side to take over from temporary signing Scott Nicholls last month.
And, ironically, Nicholls makes a swift return to Monmore on Monday when they face Peterborough in their latest Premiership outing.
Thorssell has also opened up about a troubled 2018 and says he’s just about getting over it.
“The injury has gone, it’s all good now,” he said. “It was just unfortunate that I got hurt before the season started but it doesn’t harm me now and I’m pleased to be back, I’m feeling good and ready for Monday.
“I’ve had some good results over the last few weeks so I’ve just got to keep going.
“I’ve done OK with Wolverhampton, it was going to be tricky for me because I haven’t ridden smaller tracks for a long time, but I’m only going to get better around Monmore Green.
“I’m pleased to be back at Wolverhampton and Chris Van Straaten has been true to his word bringing me back in after injury. I know Scott Nicholls was very popular at Wolves but Chris promised me my place when I was fit and it proved to be the case.
“Last season was tough for me, I’ve taken a bit of a step back in Poland this year and I think that will help me get some of my confidence back.
“Maybe last year I wasn’t ready for the top league in Poland and it was really hard but now I’m in the first division I think it will benefit me in the end. Let’s see!”
Cradley head to Mildenhall tomorrow – and there’s a debut for Sheldon Davies.
The former Birmingham man has been brought in as a replacement for Lewis Whitmore who was struggling for confidence.
It’s never easy to release a rider but Lewis freely admitted he hadn’t done himself justice and Sheldon had been decent in some second half racing around the country.
Heathens are next at Monmore on Monday week – and what a test it will be against Leicester Cubs with 15-year-old sensations Dan and Joe Thompson.
