Becker edged a tense three-man run-off after scoring 13 points from his five rides at Perris Raceway in the AMA/FIM North America Speedway Final.
He got the better of Austin Novratil and former Wolves man Ricky Wells to book his place in the Grand Prix qualifying rounds for 2020 – Novratil joins him by finishing runner-up.
Sheffield’s Broc Nicol scored 12, former Scunthorpe and Ipswich man Gino Manzares 10 and ex-Coventry favourite Billy Janniro 6 but sustained an ankle injury. Wolverhampton owner Chris Van Straaten said: “We’re all delighted for Luke, he had to keep his cool and concentrate to win a run-off and that takes some bottle.
“When we talked to Luke about coming to Wolverhampton he was saying how much he wanted the national title and now he has a path towards the 2020 Grand Prix as he’s in next year’s qualifiers.
“On behalf of everyone at Wolverhampton Speedway I would like to congratulate Luke on a fine achievement and we cannot wait to see him in our colours next season.”
