Track Talk: Pressure is on Tai Woffinden in Slovenia

It’s baking hot here in Slovenia ahead of tonight’s Grand Prix - and the heat is on Wolverhampton legend Tai Woffinden to keep his rivals at arms length in the title race.

Woffy is 16 clear of Bartosz Zmarzlik with three rounds remaining but I feel he needs to maintain that because the brilliant young Pole is coming for him.

I just don’t think Tai has been at his best in recent weeks - mainly at the starting gate.

He’s been missing out at the start and has been forced to work hard for his points. Look at the last round in Gorzow, he never won a race all night but remarkably still came third.

He’s just doing enough - but Zmarzlik is the new threat and he won’t stop in his charge. He’s fast and spectacular to watch and isn’t afraid to take a chance or two. The title race isn’t as much of a foregone conclusion as I thought a month ago.

Krsko is a hard track to pass on so Woffy will need to have his gating gloves on this time. He crashed in Poland last weekend but tells me he’s all good and ready to go. I wish him well.

You can catch all the action here in Slovenia on BT Sport - the first race will be at 6.04pm UK time. Join us if you can.

CRADLEY race the home leg of their National Trophy Final with rivals Mildenhall at Wolverhampton on Tuesday.

I have to say the Fen Tigers are right up there with the Heathens team of 2014 when we swept the board - League, Cup, Pairs, the lot.

We start as underdogs against the all-conquering Mildenhall side and we will need a handy lead on Tuesday to take to West Row on Sunday for the decider.

It’s the last Heathens meeting at home on Tuesday so get along and get behind the boys! ‘Ommer Um’ as they say down Dudley Wood way!
