Peter Adams: Wolverhampton Wolves need to perform

Wolverhampton will need to halt King’s Lynn’s imperious run in order to keep alive their play-off hopes at Monmore Green tonight, starting at 7.30pm.

The Parrys International Wolves round off the regular SGB Premiership season at home to a Stars outfit that has won 10 out of its past 11 top-flight meetings and is pushing to finish top of the pile.

Up against British bulldog Robert Lambert and Speedway Grand Prix Challenge 2018 qualifier Niels-Kristian Iversen, the injury-hit hosts will have their work cut out in a clash they realistically must win to make the top four.

With the remaining fixtures as they are, five points is likely to be the minimum requirement from this match and Wednesday’s trip to Poole Pirates (7.30pm) if Wolves are to overhaul Swindon and Belle Vue to reach the decisive end-of-season shoot-out.

“We raced at King’s Lynn recently, they looked very strong and are probably the team to beat on current form,” said boss Peter Adams. “They are gunning for top position, though, and no doubt will be after points at our place.“We owe it to ourselves and the opposition to do the best we can. It is a huge match and one we need to win.”

Nick Morris deputises for sidelined star Rory Schlein with Max Clegg stepping in for Nathan Greaves at reserve for Wolves. The Stars are set to arrive with a full team.

Club bosses are offering cut-price admission of just £10 for military personnel and those working in the emergency services for this meeting.
