Cradley Heathens hope to hit heights
Cradley can jump to the top of their National Trophy group with a home win over Buxton tonight (7.30pm).
The Motor Market Heathens revived their trophy hopes with an away triumph over the Hitmen last weekend. That came just days after slipping to a disappointing defeat against Coventry last time out at Monmore Green.
One man who stood out in both of those fixtures though was recent signing Alfie Bowtell.
The Chelmsford-born racer scored 11+1 against the Bees before securing a personal best of 17 points in the crucial win at Buxton.
Now he is hoping to inspire the Heathens to another priceless three points.
“I had a good first meeting against Coventry, it was just a shame the team couldn’t win,” Bowtell said.
“But we went to Buxton in the next meeting and even though both teams were missing a few riders it was a good win for Cradley.
“To only drop one point felt good and 17 was my highest points score.
“The supporters have been very welcoming as well and they really get behind their team which is always good.
“So hopefully I can do well again on Monday and help the team to another win.”
Cradley are at full strength for the fixture with talented teen Jason Edwards promoted into the main body of the side.
Supporters who purchase a race day programme will receive a free poster of both Edwards and Drew Kemp – and the pair will be available for autographs between 6.30 and 7pm.
