Track talk: Travel woes don't worry Adams - yet

Adams saw his side slip to defeat at Swindon on Thursday and now says there’s more pressure with two trips in three days this week.

He said: “I’m quite encouraged to be honest because I thought we were a lot more competitive than we were at Belle Vue last week.

“We stayed in the match right up until the end and Swindon are a good team around their place so I’m reasonably happy with our performance.

“Having said that, two heat advantages in 15 races is never going to be enough to win a match but we could’ve got something out of the last race and we just move onto the next.

“Hopefully we can do better at Leicester on Monday night. I set the lads a target of three points from three away meetings – at Swindon on Thursday, Leicester Monday and Poole on Wednesday.

“Because we didn’t get a point at Swindon it adds to the pressure on Monday so hopefully the lads will respond.”

Alfie Bowtell can’t wait for his Cradley debut at Wolverampton on Monday.

Essex boy Bowtell has been brought into the side as cover for teenage ace Jordan Jenkins who suffered three cracked vertebrae last week.

He’s in the side to face rivals Coventry in the latest National Trophy action with another big crowd expected on the Monmore terraces.

And he said: “I’m aware of the support they get at Cradley and I’m pleased to be getting the extra outings.

“It’s a handful of meetings for me and we should do well and I can’t wait to get started with them.”

Cradley have made a fine start to the season with two wins against Stoke and the feel-good factor appears to be back at the club after a tough two years.

Motor Market Heathens boss Will Pottinger said: “Jordan will be a big miss for us because he did so well last Monday against Stoke. He scored a paid maximum and he got on really well with the rest of the lads.

“Unfortunately, he could be out for anything as long as three months with cracked vertebrae. It’s a serious injury and we need him to take the time to get better so we don’t want to rush him back.

“Rider replacement is risky in case you carry on getting more injuries. We can’t really afford to use this facility as we are still at the group stage so we can’t lose too many matches.

“Alfie will come into the team and fit in quite nicely. It will be extra rides for him which is what he needs as he hasn’t had the confidence boosting rides for National League this year.

“He will come in and score some good points for us as I know he is more than capable of doing so.

“Hopefully we will continue to keep winning matches.”
