Super skipper Rory Schlein hit the jackpot as Wolverhampton romped to another easy home win – this time against strongly fancied Poole.

Schlein went through the card and ended in style by winning the last two heats to send home fans wild after a fine start to the season.

A survey in the trade press had speedway experts putting Poole top of the pile in pre-season predictions but the Monmore men were a class above in their 54-36 triumph.

It’s the second hefty win on the trot for Peter Adams’ men as they prepare to head to Rye House tomorrow night.

As always, it wasn’t just about Wolves winning from tapes to chequered flag, with a sprinkling of exciting action for the fans to enjoy despite blustery conditions.

In-form Schlein, who won Jon Armstrong’s testimonial at Mildenhall on Sunday, pulled off a spectacular ride in heat three to get the better of international stars Linus Sundstrom and Josh Grajczonek.

And he did it again two heats later to edge out fellow Aussie Brady Kurtz in a fine battle with Parrys International Wolves leading 19-11 after a third of the match.

Pirates used Kurtz as a tactical substitute ride in heat nine, but Schlein continued his stunning form to see off the challenge and hand Wolves a 34-20 advantage.

They never looked back and from the time a break was called after 11 races, the home side were 12 points up.

Schlein finished in style along with his colleagues and was in a jubilant mood afterwards.

He said: “Like last week we expected a much closer meeting, but I think that shows what a good team we’ve got here again this year.

“Everyone has shown some positive early signs and individually it was nice to get a rare five ride maximum.

“We need to keep the form going and thanks to the fans for all their support again.”
