Wolves dealt 'shattering' blow following Easter washout
Wolverhampton promoter Chris Van Straaten has labelled the raft of Easter postponements as “shattering.”
Van Straaten became the final club boss to call off his Bank Holiday meeting, scheduled for 8pm, on this morning due to heavy rain and a poor forecast.
The unprecedented conditions mean only two out of 21 scheduled fixtures have taken place between Thursday and Monday.
Van Straaten said: “I didn’t want to postpone it because I wanted to give it every chance, but we’ve had to admit defeat.
“I also wanted to get it on if at all possible because of the difficulties involved in re-arranging dates with another club who race on Mondays at home (Belle Vue), but we are working on that now.
“The Easter washout has been a shattering blow for British Speedway. We look forward to finally getting our season going.”
