Jacob Thorssell revved up for a charge to glory with Wolverhampton Wolves
Jacob Thorssell believes his best is yet to come as prepares to start the new speedway season as Wolverhampton’s number one rider.
The Swedish ace has completed his rise up the team ladder after Wolves opted to name him as their main man instead of the departed Freddie Lindgren.
Thorssell will now lead the charge as he side gets ready to kick start the new season with a Knockout Cup double header against Belle Vue on Monday.
Peter Adams’ men narrowly missed out on winning the SGB Premiership title last year following a Grand Final defeat to Swindon.
And Thorssell is now hoping to lead the team to glory this year. “It’s feels really good to be back,” the 24-year-old said. “It’s great for me to start the new season as the number one but it is just a number on my back. You still have to perform on the track so really everything is the same. The challenge for me now is to up my game. I’ve being making small steps forward every year but now I want to make an even higher leap.
“I think I can improve in every area. But I think a lot of it is in your head. I want to make sure I am able to help this team challenge.
“Going so close last year has really fired us up.
“Pete (Adams) is very calm. He has made it clear he really believes in us and now it’s up to us to make sure we don’t disappoint him.”
