Wolverhampton Wolves hail injured rider duo
Peter Adams has paid tribute to the courage and bravery of his two injured Wolverhampton racers.
Swedish duo Freddie Lindgren and Jacob Thorssell suffered serious injuries after crashing out of their play-off semi-finals with Belle Vue.
Lindgren is due to be released from hospital with a neck brace and Thorssell remains in Birmingham’s QE awaiting an operation on his back.
British icon Scott Nicholls has been booked to replace Lindgren in the Knockout Cup final with Belle Vue this week – the first leg is at Monmore tomorrow with the return in Manchester on Wednesday.
Said boss Adams: “They are two remarkable characters who have done such a fabulous job for this club and it’s cruel to see their season end this way.
“Freddie is coming out of hospital with his new brace on to stabilise the neck and upper back and he will already be looking towards next season.
“Jacob is having to be very patient as he hasn’t had the operation yet but we will update further once he has.
“Now we have to focus on the Cup final and we need a big crowd on Tuesday because it will be tough against Belle Vue now. Even tougher than it would have been with our top two.”
