Wolverhampton Wolves are going all-out for victory
Wolverhampton boss Peter Adams insists his side are heading to Belle Vue tonight to win – not just to defend their lead.
The Parrys International Wolves gained a 13-point advantage over the Aces in the first leg of their Premiership play-off semi-final at Monmore Green on Monday, after battling their way to a 51-38 victory.
But the result was slightly overshadowed by injury to Swedish favourite Jacob Thorssell who has since confirmed he suffered a broken T12 vertebra in his lower back, following a heat 14 crash.
The reigning league champions have to operate rider replacement for their trip to the National Speedway Stadium, but with Thorssell sitting second in the current greensheet averages, it means all of his team-mates are eligible to cover his four programmed outings between them.
Adams said: “Having a double-digit lead to defend gives us a chance – but we’re still going there for the win.
“We know it’s going to be tough being without Jacob but every rider in the team, including Freddie (Lindgren), can take one of his rides so hopefully the team can cover his points well.
“By his own admission too, Sam (Masters) had a poor meeting by his own high standards on Monday, but I highly doubt he’ll have two poor meetings in succession.”
