The Parrys International Wolves will be looking to build up a handy lead to take into the second leg at the National Speedway Stadium in Manchester on Wednesday.

Swedish star Jacob Thorssell, who won a race as track reserve at Saturday’s Stockholm FIM Speedway Grand Prix, admits his side are fired up for the clash and insists the Wolverhampton supporters also have a key role to play.

“We’re the current league champions and we would really love to win the league for a second year on the trot,” Thorssell said.

“We’ve worked hard all year round to get to this point but our season starts again here.

“Belle Vue are a strong team and they have done well when they’ve been to Monmore earlier in the season – but we’ve got a great team spirit and we’re ready for them.

“We want to score as many points as we possibly can and getting off to a good start could be important.

“The play-offs last year were special, especially in our home meetings and the atmosphere is always even better than it usually is on nights like these.

“We normally have a bigger crowd and last year the fans made so much noise – and we need them again on Monday.

“We want to be the team to lift that trophy again, but we know anything can happen in the play-offs and we all need to be near our best to give ourselves the best chance possible.”

Normal admission prices apply for the tie at Adults £18, Concessions £13, Juniors (13-18) £7, Children (6-12) £1 and season tickets are also valid too.
