Freddie’s out to end Robins’ run
It all but started with Wolves – and club skipper Freddie Lindgren would like it to end there.
Swindon’s extraordinary 16-match winning streak has been the talk of the Premiership and propelled the Robins to the top of the table.
Yet Alun Rossiter’s men only got their juggernaut into second gear back on June 29 courtesy of a last-gasp, one-point home victory over the Parrys International Wolves which was win two of the sequence.
Since then Swindon have been free-wheeling, but Lindgren would love Thursday’s clash at Blunsdon to be the one at which the brakes are applied.
“It certainly would be nice to end it,” he said. “They are also up at the top and will be one of the main players in the play-offs.”
The Swede would love to put down a marker at Blunsdon before the end of season extravaganza. And while he was buoyed by the 49-41 home win over fellow title contenders Belle Vue on Bank Holiday Monday, he knows Wolves face a tough task.
“It would be good to beat them early on, before the play-offs,” he added. “We will have to look at that!
“We had a tough meeting with Belle Vue and we will have a tough one against Swindon.”
Wolves pair Kyle Howarth and Rory Schlein are in Championship action; Belle Vue’s Steve Worrall steps in for the former while rider-replacement will cover for the Australian.
Swindon star Nick Morris is expected to ride.
