Wolverhampton Wolves aiming to reclaim top spot

Aussie star Sam Masters says the incentive to move back to the top of the SGB Premiership has given Wolverhampton an even bigger boost ahead of the home clash with Poole at Monmore Green.

The Parrys International Wolves know that a victory would ensure they leapfrog Belle Vue to reclaim top spot thanks to back-to-back slip-ups by the Aces against Swindon last week.

Masters dropped just two points in Saturday’s 48-42 defeat at Rye House – a contribution which saw the Parrys International Wolves grab a vital consolation league point.

And he believes his side are due a full team performance – and hopes it will be tonight against the Pirates.

“For the last few meetings we’ve been a bit more hit and miss than what we’re used to to be honest,” Masters said. “Every meeting there’s been a couple of us who’ve scored brilliantly and then a couple of us who’ve had a bit of an off night.

“But we can always rely on one another to step up to the plate and maybe bail us out if we are a bit below par.

“That’s what strong teams are made of but one day soon we’ll all click on the same night again and when we do we’re going to end up smashing someone.

“Poole have been having a tough old time of it lately and have been swapping and changing riders. So hopefully our team spirit can play a big part in a meeting like this and it should be a good one for the fans too.”

With German racer Mark Riss still sidelined through injury, Peter Adams has booked former Wolf Max Clegg to guest at reserve.
