The Swede won his first Speedway Grand Prix in five years as he triumphed in Poland to go out in front on his own at the top of the World Championship standings.

Lindgren – who returns to Britain to race for Wolves at Leicester in the SGB Premiership tonight (7.30pm) – scored 16 points and topped the rostrum ahead of Maciej Janowski, Jason Doyle and Martin Vaculik.

He said: “I am just pumped with adrenaline. It’s so cool to ride in this stadium in front of all these people and perform like I did.

“It’s something that we live to do. It’s what I like. I have been training so hard in the winter. I have so many good people behind me – all my sponsors and pit crew; everyone is helping me out. I’m so pleased to give back to them.

“I feel absolutely awesome. I have only won one GP before. This is so important for me.”

It’s Lindgren’s first victory since he won the Swedish SGP at Gothenburg’s Ullevi Stadium on May 26, 2012 and he retains the FIM Speedway World Championship lead, which he has extended to five points over Doyle.

He relished racing at PGE Narodowy, as Poland’s national stadium delivered another SGP classic and added: “I think it’s awesome. For me personally, I love this kind of stadium, places like Cardiff and Warsaw. It’s full of people and gets that extra adrenaline pumping. They normally prepare the tracks really well and there are different racing lines. I’m stoked to be here and I loved every second of it.”

Wolves face a rare Monday away meeting when they head to Midland rivals Leicester tonight.

They currently sit top of the SGB Premiership table after a run of five straight league wins.

Rising reserve star Nathan Greaves has been an improved contributor during those results and is hoping both he and his team-mates can add to their tally at Beaumont Park.

Greaves said: “After some good scores at home, my confidence is really starting to come back – now it’s time to perform in our away meetings!

“The team have helped me a lot and scoring points as part of a winning team is the best feeling in the world.

“Our results are speaking for themselves now and we deserve to be at the top of the league with how we’ve all been riding.

“We just need to keep working hard, make sure we don’t take our foot off the gas and pick up as many wins as we can.”

The Parrys International Wolves will be at full strength, with skipper Freddie Lindgren leading the side fresh from his tremendous victory in Saturday’s Warsaw Speedway Grand Prix.

Leicester hand a debut to all action-star Jason Garrity, while the Lions also include British Champion Danny King as well as ex-Wolves racers Lasse Bjerre and Josh Bates.
