Nigel Pearson's Track Talk - July 14

Wolverhampton Wolves are keeping their fingers crossed for good news on top man Freddie Lindgren.

Lindgren is a major concern for tomorrow's trip to Lakeside and Monday's crunch home clash with play-off rivals Swindon.

He crashed heavily at the British Grand Prix last weekend and withdrew from his Polish fixture on Sunday as he was dazed.

Lindgren has been like a new signing for the Monmore men this season in my view. He invested heavily in new machinery and is on the new Gerhard engines which have clearly suited him.

Before Cardiff he had one of his best displays in the gold and black in a thrilling TV clash at the new stadium in Manchester – it was vintage Lindgren watching that.

My TV colleague Kelvin Tatum spent some time testing engines with Lindgren in the winter and tells me Freddie was very much at a crossroads with his career – he was even considering his future in the sport.

That would have been a big loss and it must be hoped he makes it for tomorrow – and if not, hopefully the extra days will allow him to face Swindon.

Speaking of which, Monday's meeting has all the ingredients of a classic.

I like the way the Robins have been put together, you can tell there is a fabulous team spirit there and in Jason Doyle, currently third in the world, they boast a genuine powerhouse at the top of the team.

Get yourself to Monmore on Monday night, I'm sure it will be action-packed and full of entertainment. As for the result? Wolves by six, for me.

Meanwhile, Bradley Andrews comes back into the Cradley side for Saturday's meeting with Stoke at Loomer Road.

Full credit to the lad, he has put myself and my managerial colleagues in a position where we had to reinstate him in the declared 1-7.

Something has clearly clicked for Brad, grandson of former Dudley Wood favourite Bob Andrews. He was struggling badly when we decided to drop him and bring in Layne Cupitt.

Layne now reverts to our stand-by No 8 rider for the Stoke meeting and we are hoping he can have a few outings to cover for the injured James Purchase.

On the subject of the Heathens, a reminder the Golden Hammer – in association with Dudley Stroke Association – boasts the strongest line-up of the modern era on Tuesday August 9.

The likes of Paul Starke, Steve Worrall, Tom Perry, Adam Roynon and holder Adam Ellis are all included and it's a date not to be missed at Monmore.

The restaurant is also open that night and reservations can be made via info@cradleyheathens.co or at the speedway office when we face Buxton on July 25.
