Cradley Heathens in talks over race re-run

Cradley Heathens are in negotiations with Mildenhall in regard to a restaging date for their postponed fixture at West Row.

The Heathens were due to take on the Fen Tigers on Sunday, June 19 but saw the meeting called off in controversial circumstances.

Although they have not been officially informed, the club understands an SCB hearing has decided to award Will Pottinger's side with the points.

However, with Mildenhall in the process of launching an appeal, the club have already started talks to arrange a new date for the fixture.

Even if their appeal is unsuccessful, the Heathens will travel to West Row for a challenge match as a goodwill gesture.

Club director Nigel Pearson stated: "We are still yet to receive any proper notification of the SCB hearing that we understand took place.

"However, we can confirm we are already talking to the Mildenhall promotion with regards to re-arranging the fixture for later in the season.

"This is a situation which isn't our fault, but as a club we will go along with whatever the authorities decide in the best interests of the sport.

"We just want to emphasize that this whole situation is not our fault and is nothing to do with us, we just want to see the situation resolved."

"In the meantime, we look forward to welcoming Mildenhall riders, fans and management to Monmore Green on Monday for what promises to be an excellent National League encounter.

"We are also disappointed at comments made by promotors of other clubs regarding the matter.

"There was one in particular saying in the Speedway Star that 'Cradley haven't won away from home this year and they don't look like they are going to win away from home.'

"As a point of correction, we actually won at Rye House on Sunday and claimed all four league points, 48 hours before the Speedway Star went to print."
