Wolverhampton Wolves postpone Belle Vue meeting
Wolverhampton Wolves' are still awaiting their opening speedway fixture of the season after tonight's clash with Belle Vue was postponed.
The two were meant to meet at the National Speedway Stadium in Manchester on Friday, only for concerns over the newly-laid track to put paid to that, while tonight should have been the reverse fixture between the sides.
However, the Monmore Green track has been deemed unfit, meaning Wolves will hope to make it third time lucky when visiting Coventry on Friday.
A statement on the club website read: "Wolverhampton Speedway have reluctantly decided to delay the start of their Elite League season by cancelling tonight's fixture with Belle Vue.
"The club have taken into account the weather forecast which served track staff so well for the Heathens' meeting last night and a heavy band of torrential rain is due between 5-7pm.
"This decision has been taken to minimise the inconvenience for all parties - riders, staff, fans and sponsors.
"We now look forward to welcoming everyone back to Monmore next Monday, April 4, when we face Swindon."
