After heavy rain overnight, the Monmore Green track staff have been working tirelessly since early this morning to allow the meeting to go ahead.

The surface water has been pumped off the track and with a drying breeze assisting their efforts the meeting is all set to take place as planned.

Club director Nigel Pearson said: "It's all systems go for tonight's opening meeting of the season. We do expect it to be bitterly cold so we would tell supporters to bring your jackets, hats and scarves and get out your Heathens colours to support the lads.

"We would also like to ask people, if at all possible, to have the correct change at the turnstiles to enable us to pass everyone through quickly as we are expecting a big crowd.

"Finally, there is a brand new look to the programme this year. It's bigger and better than ever before with 48 pages packed with new, interesting features and at £3 it represents fantastic value."

Admission prices for the 2016 season are as follows: Adults £12, Concessions/Students £9, Children (6-17) £3 and kids five and under go free.
