Tapes up for Tai Woffinden's big speedway sell-off on ebay
A pit board, some engine plates, seat brackets and a pair of side covers. They might not sound much but when it's two-time speedway world champion Tai Woffinden selling the goods they soon start attracting a lot of interest.
The former Wolverhampton Wolves rider has decided to sell 24 items in total, ranging from motorcycle parts to clothing and a helmet, as part of a general clear-out.
The items come fairly cheap with the speedway star charging anything from £5 for a sprocket to £77 for his old Team GB jacket.
Items are being sold through a family relative, who said Tai would rather 'someone else enjoy them than them sitting around in boxes'.
Tai posted a link to the sale items on his Twitter feed yesterday, saying: "Got some goodies on ebay Sean is selling for me. Check it all out some good bits on there for collectors."
Among the merchandise Tai is selling is a zip-up coat – with the words 'Tai Woffinden 2013 Speedway World Champion' embroidered in gold stitching – which is listed for £60.
The 25-year-old Team GB captain has also taken to modelling two Team GB clothing items for the item listings.
The modelling seems to have worked, too, with his Great Britain clothing line already attracting several bids with five days of bidding left to go.
But the interest does not even come close to the 10 bids he has already received yesterday afternoon for his 2014 kit bag, listed for £53.
Several bids have also been placed for his signed and limited edition £31 bib, for the £62 Monster Energy Wrapped Arai helmet, the £56 British Final 2015 bib and the £10.50 side covers and Team GB jacket.
Single bids had been received by yesterday for the £50 signed goggles and gloves and the £50 speedway mat from 2014.
A white Team GB polo T-shirt, made by Under Amour and sponsored by Mercedes Benz, with two Union Jack flags on the inside of the collar, has been listed for £26.
And a black Team GB coat, which features two crossing Union Jack flags on the back, is being sold with a price starting at £77.
Another piece of Tai Woffinden branded gear – a black rucksack bag, with bold red letters of the speedway rider's name – is being sold for £57.
His riding gear may delight fans, where a helmet, signed goggles and gloves – all matching in colour – have been put up for sale.
The striking gold and black helmet is listed for £62, and the gloves and goggles are going for £50.
The current British champion, who races domestically across Europe in Poland and Sweden, in the FIM Speedway Grand Prix Series and for Team GB in the Monster Energy Speedway World Cup, has put up another pair of gold and black gloves for £20.
On top of the riding gear, Woffinden is selling specialised motorcycle parts including four speedway engine plates costing £10, two speedway brackets costing £30, a speedway coil costing £35 and a Dellorto speedway carburettor for £30.
Black and red plastic motorcycle covers and mats can be bought in a bundle for £100.
Fans can also get into the speedway spirit with two signed vests. or bibs, the first from the British final 2015, costing £56 and a gold, white and black limited-edition bib from 2013 going under the online hammer for £31.
Further speedway-related merchandise includes a black sponsor board lined with different company logos costing £50, two speedway mats with Tai's name on, costing £50 each and plastic side covers at a total cost of £30.
Woffinden, who races a 500cc bike weighing about 75kg without brakes, which has one gear and can accelerate faster than an F1 car with top speeds of up to 80mph, has also listed two speedway push bars for £15.
Aside from Tai's own merchandise, he is also selling a Greg Hancock-signed The Grin handbook, complete with hat, costing £50, and a 'Mew Two' Pokémon T-shirt for £20.
