The Heathens have today unveiled the talented 17-year-old as their first signing for the 2016 campaign, as they look to regain their National League title.

Bradley's grandad Bob

New Zealand-born Andrews is the grandson of former Cradley rider Bob, who spent four seasons at Dudley Wood between 1968 and 1972 and was a World Pairs champion.

The teenage ace, who holds a British passport and will arrive on a 3.00 average, is delighted to be following in his grandfather's footsteps by donning the famous Heathens race jacket.

After completing his A-levels just last month, he is now relishing his long-awaited National League bow when the 2016 season gets under way in March.

Andrews said: "It feels great to be following in my grandad's footsteps, and I hope he feels the same because I haven't told him yet!

"I can't trust him to keep it to himself until it's been announced, I'm sure he'd be emailing everyone and telling them to keep it quiet.

"He has ridden against and with some of the all-time greats in speedway, not that I was around at the time, but I've met a few of them and they all say he wasn't too bad.

"When I go around and see him, I see the big CH jacket on the wall with the England and NZ race jackets the trophies and the World Final medals."

Meanwhile, Heathens are holding a season-ticket sales night at Cradley Heath Liberal Club next Tuesday, when management duo Will Pottinger and Gary Patchett will be in attendance.
