Fans worried on Cradley Heathens future

Cradley Heathens Supporters' Trust are desperate not to see the team die after the club's owners announced they were stepping down.

The Heathens' outgoing bosses admit they don't know whether the team's next fixture against King's Lynn will be its last.

Chairman Nigel Pearson and partners Chris Van Straaten and Gary Patchett revived the club in 2010, after 15 years out of the league, but this week revealed they are standing down.

Lifelong supporter Spencer Billingham said: "We are just coming to terms with what has happened like everyone else.

"I think it has been on the cards for the last three or four years. We can only hope somebody can come in and take the club forward. We would all hate to see the club die."

Mr Billingham, who lives in Dudley Wood, said meetings will be organised to discuss the club's future and that it was time to act.

Meanwhile, Heathens boss Will Pottinger insists it's a case of 'business as usual' as they head to King's Lynn for the first leg of their Knockout Cup semi-final tonight.

The Heathens again utilise former favourite Darryl Ritchings as a guest for Ellis Perks in the middle order.
