Wolves fans offer Piotr Pawlicki olive branch
Wolves speedway fans have offered an olive branch to sacked star Piotr Pawlicki.
The 19-year-old Pole had his contract cancelled last season after missing a series of meetings.
Wolves bosses Chris Van Straaten and Peter Adams told a fans talk-in at Chillington Working Men's Club that the rider had come under pressure in Poland not to ride abroad.
Team manager Adams said: "In the under-21 category in Poland there are millions of fixtures.
"Twenty-two-year old Poles and older are far more committed. We're going to be a little bit reticent – we're not going to get our fingers burned again."
Asked on a show of hands whether they would welcome Pawlicki back in the future, a heavy majority of the 130-odd fans present voted yes.
Adams confirmed that young Swedish prospect Oliver Berntzon had approached the club about a possible future berth and he is set for talks.
