Cradley Heathens planning for the future

Cradley Heathens bosses today revealed how they are in deep discussion over the 2015 season already. And the three-pronged management team are refusing to rule out an application to move into a higher level of league racing after five years in the National League.

Heathens claimed a clean sweep of honours last season and have so far stormed to some massive wins against King's Lynn, Kent, Buxton and Mildenhall.

They face the Fen Tigers at Monmore next Tuesday in the second leg of their Knockout Cup tie in the first part of a double header – Scunthorpe follow immediately afterwards in a league meeting.

And club chairman Nigel Pearson said: "The management team are already planning towards 2015. We want to assure our supporters we remain as ambitious as ever for this club to continue to be successful.

"The team have been magnificent this season so far, but there is a long way to go and we know anything can happen.

"We have already had in-depth talks about the way forward from here, with or without a new track of our own. All options are being considered at this stage, including riding at a higher level but there are certain conditions which need to be met for that to happen.

"I think we are all agreed, however, that if this team goes on to win the National League title for a second successive season it would be almost impossible to stay in the league for a sixth season – we would have to step up."
