A convincing victory against rivals Birmingham ensured the Monmore men took all three points from the opening meeting of the Elite League season.

Adams could not hide his delight following a tremendous team display – although he reserved special praise for Polish young gun Piotr Pawlicki after he stormed to a spectacular paid maximum on his Wolves debut.

"I expected it to be much closer but we had far too much for them in the heat-leader and second string departments in the end," said Adams.

"The reserves pretty much cancelled each other out but it was our strength higher up the side that gave us the advantage.

"Everybody did more or less what we expected if not more, and it was a very encouraging performance.

"Piotr Pawlicki showed he is a very special talent and it was a superb debut from him. Hopefully that is a sign of things to come and I'm sure he'll become a huge hit here over the next few years.

"We know we'll face tougher opposition... but it's three points on the board and we are top of the league – you can't argue with that!"
