Tai Woffinden adds Rider of the Year to trophy haul
Newly-crowned world champion Tai Woffinden added another trophy to his collection as he scooped the Wolverhampton Rider of the Year trophy at the club's awards evening.
The 23-year-old celebrated an unforgettable year by taking the top prize voted by Wolves supporters, while he was also presented with a commemorative montage to mark his world championship win.
Swedish youngster Jacob Thorssell celebrated double success as he took the Young Rider of the Year and the Team Rider of the Year award, voted by his colleagues, to cap-off an excellent season at reserve.
Popular Pole Adam Skornicki bagged the Team Man of the Year accolade, while Freddie Lindgren completed the list of winners with the Most Entertaining Rider trophy.
Meanwhile, club promoter Chris Van Straaten also announced coach tour operators Parrys International will continue their partnership as title sponsors of the club for a record 14th straight season in 2014.
And Woffinden will be on trophy duty again when he hands out the medals to new National League champions Dudley.
Woffinden has agreed to be special guest at the Heathens presentation night on Friday, November 15, at the Copthorne Hotel in Brierley Hill. It promises to be an emotional evening as Heathens supporters celebrate their first title in 30 years.
Dudley chairman Nigel Pearson said: "I've been talking to Tai about this for the past fortnight but we had to wait to ensure he was available. As a club we are thrilled to have the world champion at our presentation."
The event has already sold 300 tickets and there are only 50 remaining available from the track shop at Dudley's final home meeting of the season, the Knockout Cup final against the Isle of Wight tomorrow.
