Peter Adams says season not over despite play-off loss
Wolves speedway boss Peter Adams insists their season is not over despite last night's play-off setback.
Adams' team went down 46-44 at home in the Elite League semi-final first leg to Birmingham Brummies.
The Monmore Green outfit now face an uphill task next Monday against their table-topping neighbours.
But Adams is hopeful his side can pull off a shock result to make the grand final against Swindon or Poole.
"We knew it was important for us to try and get some sort of a lead to take to Perry Barr, so to end up with a narrow defeat is obviously very disappointing," he said.
"There was some excellent racing, but unfortunately things didn't quite go our way.
"Birmingham have quality throughout the side which makes them very hard to attack, but we'll certainly have a good go in the second leg. Riders like Chris Harris, Jason Doyle and Danny King are difficult to overtake when you are behind, so we will need to be starting well on Monday.
"They haven't finished top of the league for nothing – they have been the best team in the country over the course of the season.
"We did very well there in May and could well have got the win had Ty Proctor not had to pull out. The second time we went there was a bit of a horror show."
The meeting had a sombre conclusion when Wolves guest Niels-Kristian Iversen was taken to hospital with a hip injury after a bad crash. But the Dane was released today and confirmed no broken bones.
