Dudley's Lewis Blackbird clinches rostrum place

Dudley star Lewis Blackbird continued his strong run of form to bag third place in the National League Riders Championship at Rye House.

Blackbird ended the night on 12 points – two behind eventual winner Steve Boxall and runner-up Lewis Kerr.

He said: "Naturally, I came here to win, but I'm pleased with a rostrum spot.

"I was a little unfortunate in my last ride as I was leading when it got stopped, but fair play to Steve (Boxall) he was quick all night and deserved to win."

Dudley colleagues Ashley Morris and Paul Starke were also in action, but endured frustrating evenings. Skipper Morris was blighted by a fall and engine failure as he ended on four points, while Starke battled hard for his six.

n Heathens youngster Nathan Greaves successfully defended his British Under-16 Championship title at Iwade.

The 15-year-old stormed to his third victory of the six-round season to secure glory in the 500cc class.
