Depleted Wolves lose on road in Elite League
Depleted Wolves ran out of steam against a powerhouse King's Lynn side and suffered a 53-37 defeat in their Elite League clash.
The Monmore men suffered a pointless return on the road for the first time this season.
And it was talented British racer Richie Worrall who proved to be the difference, with a stunning 18-point maximum at reserve for the Stars.
A 5-1 for the home side in the opening race put Parrys International Wolves on the back foot – although they did pull themselves back within two thanks to Fredrik Lindgren and Adam Skornicki in heat five.
But a trio of heat advantages gave King's Lynn an eight-point lead after eight outings – and a spell of 3-3s prevented Wolves from using a tactical ride before the heat 12 deadline.
With a tight finale in prospect, the hosts struck a timely 5-1 in heat 12 to give the Monmore men an uphill task, before a further Kings Lynn maximum put the final nail in the Wolves coffin.
Polish ace Adam Skornicki followed on from a good night on Monday with another strong performance to top score for Wolves.
Jacob Thorssell also impressed from reserve to score paid eight on his first visit to the Norfolk Arena.
Skipper Fredrik Lindgren also made a useful contribution despite not enjoying the best evening at No 1, while Scott Nicholls fought hard as a guest for the injured Tai Woffinden.
Yet Ricky Wells and Ludvig Lindgren both suffered miserable evenings – and with King's Lynn reserve Worrall scoring a faultless 18-point maximum they were unable to snatch a point.
Attentions now turn to Monday as Wolves look to bounce back from their four defeats in five meetings. They host Elite League strugglers Peterborough at Monmore Green.
