Dudley Heathens run riot in National League
Dudley Heathens produced a stunning 62-30 National League demolition of strongly-fancied neighbours Coventry.
And they did it without the services of key duo Dan Greenwood and Gareth Isherwood.
They pulled out in the build-up to the local derby with shoulder and back injuries respectively.
Team boss Will Pottinger was thrilled with his side. He said: "We were maybe expecting it to go down to the wire but, in the end, the lads put in an excellent display.
"Four of the lads made double figures, another was paid for double figures and you can't ask for much more than that."
A 5-1 in the opening race from flying reserve Max Clegg and No.1 Ashley Morris set the tone last night as Dudley blitzed to three maximums in the opening four races.
Heat 13 saw a horror crash for Morris after James Sarjeant fell in front of him – yet he dusted himself down to take the flag alongside Lewis Blackbird in the re-run. The two suffered just one defeat apiece.
Dudley Heathens: Ashley Morris 13+1, Paul Starke 13, Lewis Blackbird 12+1, Max Clegg 12+1, Nathan Greaves 7+3, Darryl Ritchings 5+3, Gareth Isherwood R/R
Coventry: Robert Branford 14, Joe Jacobs 6, James Sarjeant 4, Luke Crang 3+1, Brendan Johnson 2, Martin Knuckey 1, Ryan Terry-Daley 0.
