Wolves legend Peter Karlsson will not be at Monmore Green next season – but his protege will.

Karlsson has been squeezed out by the points limit, but Wolves today snapped up young Swedish ace Pontus Aspgren on his recommendation.

The 20-year-old was due to appear in the Banks's Olympique in October but pulled out after sustaining an injury in his home country.

Aspgren rode for top-flight Vastervik last season and his performances sparked interest from a number of clubs.

Wolves owner Chris Van Straaten said: "Pontus was very disappointed when he was forced to withdraw from the Banks's Olympique through injury.

"I know how much he was looking forward to coming over here and showing us what he can do.

"But he is highly recommended and for that reason we decided to continue talks about the 2012 season, we are now delighted to have him on board and give him his chance in British speedway.

"He is bursting with enthusiasm and is desperate to do well.
