Stafford swoop for hometown hero Aly Muldowney
Stafford Rugby Club have pulled off a coup with the signing of Aly Muldowney as their new player-coach.
The versatile forward has agreed to return to his hometown club after a professional career spanning more than a decade.
Muldowney, who took his first steps in the sport with Stafford Colts, went on to play for Moseley, Glasgow Warriors, Exeter Chiefs, Connacht, Grenoble and more recently Bristol Bears.
But he is now back with Stafford and aiming to take the first steps on the coaching ladder under the guidance of head coach Darren Mottershead.
Muldowney said: “When my professional career was coming to an end, I knew I wanted to return to where it all began for me and ‘put back’.
“I am looking forward to working with Darren and the coaching team and maybe add a few things that I have picked up during my professional career.”
