The dust settled on the German Darts Masters today with the revision of the Pro Tour and outright Order of Merit as his ascension continues,

The Shropshire thrower rose back up five places in the Pro Tour standings and established himself as 46th overall, through two battling displays.

He bowed out to Simon Whitlock at the Ballhausforum in Munich on Sunday afternoon, as the tables were turned on him this time.

Pallett was under pressure from the off, too, but recovered from 4-1 down to beat Canadian Ken MacNeil 6-5 in the last leg, which he won in 13 darts, on Saturday night.

That brought him back to the oche yesterday as he looked to cast a spell on 'the Wizard of Oz,' but the capable Aussie was in good form.

A high-quality encounter ensued where they shared the opening six legs as Pallett took out 137 in the opener, using just 14 and then 11 darts to make the score 3-3.

Landing 164 helped him take the seventh leg and nudge past Whitlock into a 4-3 lead, but missing double 20 to break for 5-3 proved costly.

In stepped Whitlock to rattle off 168 and then level on double eight, Pallett again missing doubles as his throw was broken on double 18 to go behind.

That put Pallett in trouble and Whitlock within sight of victory, which he secured with a tidy ton to settle affairs on 100. The World Championship finalist later praised him for "playing very well."

World No 1 Michael van Gerwen smashed through the £1million mark for prize money in the Order of Merit, after defeating John Henderson 6-5 in last night's final.
