Usain Bolt: I can restore trust in athletics
Usain Bolt today vowed to restore athletics' reputation after the latest doping scandal to stun the sport.
The six-time Olympic champion and 100m world record holder was left stunned after Jamaica team-mate Asafa Powell and USA sprinter Tyson Gay tested positive for drugs.
Former 100m world record holder Powell and Gay, the second fastest athlete of all time, are facing potential two-year bans. Bolt has insisted he is clean and, speaking ahead of the World Championships which start in Moscow today, is irrevocably clear in his role for the sport's recovery from some of its darkest days.
"I was made to inspire people and to run. I was given a gift and that's what I do with the people I work with," he said.
"I know I'm clean so I am going to continue running and using my ability to improve the sport and use it to help others."
