Their last trip there saw them win 3-0 but lose the points due to not having the required bench coach.

And there was more agony last night as Tigers were unable to build on their big win at Billingham on Saturday.

Tigers went behind in the 11th minute when Richard Bentham scored a power play goal to give Blackburn the lead.

The visitors responded with a power play goal of their own in the 16th minute when Jason Silverthorn scored from Corey Goodison’s pass.

Blackburn were back ahead in the 22nd minute when Tigers, despite being on a power play, failed to press home their advantage and James Royds scored short handed.

Things got worse just two minutes later when Mathew Viney scored to give Blackburn a 3-1 lead.

Jonathan Weaver’s precise shot in the 30th minute left Tigers 3-2 behind at the end of the second period.

Tigers and Hawks exchanged chances in the third period with Telford pushing for an equaliser and Blackburn looking to catch Tigers on the break.

It was Tigers who got the goal in the 55th minute when Goodison’s shot beat Blackburn netminder Niks Trapans to tie the game.

No further goals were scored in regulation and five minutes of overtime was played but the sides were still level at the end and the points would be decided by a shootout.

Scott McKenzie missed the first Tigers’ shot, with Bentham scoring for Blackburn. Silverthorn then missed Tigers’ second shot leaving Royds to win the game after he beat Tigers’ netminder Dennis Bell with his wrist shot.
