West Midlands Basketball sent the message out to all clubs stating that all remaining regular season games are to be cancelled, with two points awarded to both teams in fixtures. Meanwhile, the play-offs will not proceed.

That news comes as a blow to West Brom, who had pulled off a shock upset in their first leg play-off semi-final with regular season champions, Balts.

The second leg was postponed following the season shut down - and now it's been confirmed that the post-season competition will not be taking place.

The league has also confirmed that the annual summer league tournament, typically taking place during the off-season - will also be cancelled due to the ongoing situation around Covid-19.

However, in an effort to reward the hard work of teams in the cup competitions over the 2019/20 season, the league are attempting to host a semi-finals and finals day later this year - most likely in September.

That decision could see West Brom's Premier Division side and Division Two sides both in action over the event, with the potential to face one another in the final of the Knockout Shield.

Question marks do remain over the Division Two side's promotion prospects following the league's cancellation - with the team finishing top of the table.

It's thought within the club that promotion will still be granted to the side - with their position strengthened by the fact that all teams have completed all their fixtures in the division.

The club await news over that decision.
