Pride ace Wagstaffe can be proud of his match-winning strike

Saul Wagstaffe proved to the match-winner for Wolves Pride in the semi-final of the Wolverhampton Sunday League’s Tom Bird Cup.

Wagstaffe bagged the only goal of the game, a fine strike from outside the box midway through the second half, to earn his side a hard-fought success against Bentlands, writes Nick Elwell.

Bentlands squandered a great chance to level late on when they missed a penalty with 10 minutes to go, while Pride goalkeeper Laurence Newman pulled off a number of excellent saves.

In the quarter-finals of the Ken Pemberton Cup, Sandwell Athletic powered their to a 7-3 success against Wolverhampton Sports GNST.

Adam Whitehouse was the Sandwell star with a our-goal salvo. Anton Hewitt, Lee Eglington and James Molineaux added to Whitehouse’s haul.

Gagandeep Kular (two) and Amir Sanghera scored for GNST.

Tipton Town Sundays bagged an impressive result in Division Two.

Two goals from Adam Hill and one from Lewis Worsey saw them beat champions Churchill Royal Oak 3-1. Jack Smith replied.

ECC Sports slipped to a 4-2 defeat at home to Black Country Fusion.

Clayton Peddie and Corey Brown netted for the hosts, but a double blast from Dan Gillet and singles from Liam Smith and Rich Finch ensured the points went to Fusion.

Mathew Grainger (two), Josh Darby and Phil Vickers grabbed the goals that earned Dudley United a 4-3 home win against Pilot.

Woodman Inn bagged an away-day triumph in Division Three.

Craig Mitchell, Jamie Morgan and Ryan Metcalfe were on target to secure a 3-2 win Coseley Tavern.

AFC Bradmore and Russell Athletic battled out a 1-1 draw.

Ryan Irwin struck for Bradmore, with Ant Platow replying.

Kings Arms won 4-2 at Tettenhall thanks to goals from Marvelous Omoegie (two), Matt Cox and Jamie Solcombe.

Jack Hague and Mark Giles hit the net for the hosts.

Hot-shot Kyle Matthews helped fire Division Four leaders Golden Lion to their 14th win in 16 league outings.

Matthews rattled the back of the net four times in his side’s 7-0 victory. Glyn Osborne, Jamie Morris and Jamie Taffs added the other goals.

Ashmore also hit the goal trail, netting six without reply at home to ECC United.
