The Division One high-fliers made light of their handicap disadvantage to see off Division Four side Essington WMC B with Scott Tapper, John Fallows, Chris Jones, Lee Haselum and Jim Woodhouse all winning to seal a 475-361 success.

In the Division Five showdown, Fordhouses CC C narrowly saw off The Royal.

Roger Lowbridge and Dave Lowe put Fordhouses on top before Derek Whittaker replied. Fordhouses’ Ian Tranter then took the fourth frame and although Gavin Johnston won the last match for The Royal, his 24-point win wasn’t enough to deny the hosts.

Wolverhampton Electric, who are bottom of Division Five, put their league form behind them to win on the road at Division Three side Codsall Firs.

The opening frame was taken by Electric’s Richard Lee on the black to add to their handicap start.

Wins for Ben Allen and John Featherstone then earned the hosts a slender lead. But the visitors hit back as Des Sadler won the fourth frame by a 60-point margin before Colin Payne sealed the deal.

The other teams to make it through were Bilston BC A, Baggeridge Social Club, Bushbury Gird B, Sedgley Ex Service A and Wednesfield Cons A.
