Kyle Brady and Alex Foreshaw struck in the first-half before Reece Mason, Ben Podmore and Vidal Hendrickson added their names to the scoresheet in the second period as Cassies cruised to a comfortable West Midlands League Premier Division success.

Gill was delighted by his team’s goal-laden display and will be hoping for more of the same when they entertain Black Country Rangers in the league tonight.

“I said to the lads before the game that we might have to forgo a clean sheet,” he said. “We wanted to get at them early, to dominate the game in the last third.

“We set up a bit more offensive on Saturday. It was more than just the three points, it was about the performance. We wanted to go out and make a statement against a team in and around us, and I think we did that.”

Cassies have scored 11 in three games having struggled for goals earlier in the campaign, but Gill was never in doubt about his side’s ability to find the back of the net.

“We had three 0-0 draws in four games at the start of the season,” he said. “But nothing has changed, we knew we were playing the right way, we just weren’t scoring goals.

“But we were never negative, we didn’t chase other forwards, we stayed true to the lads here and now our faith is being rewarded.”

But, despite Saturday’s impressive performance, Gill is ensuring his side stay firmly grounded ahead of this evening’s encounter with Rangers.

“We know what they are about, we’ve watched them a couple of times and we will set up accordingly,” he added.

“Rangers will look to take the game to us, They have a lot of good players, and there won’t be any complacency on our part.

Dudley Town recorded a 3-0 victory at home to Wednesfield. TJ Davies, Dan Jones and skipper Mitch Lawley secured the points.

Darlaston Town’s Aiden Blackham-Hanson, Luke Charlton and Isaac Cooper all registered in the 3-0 home win against Pershore Town.

Black Country Rangers also ran out 3-0 winners, at home to Wem Town. Ahmed Ali, Babucar Sauane and Kayleden Browne hit the net.

But Dudley Sports crashed 7-0 to Littleton. Boss Tony Gore will be hoping for a response when they host Worcester Raiders tonight. Smethwick were eddged out 3-2 at Bewdley.
