Visiting St John’s made early in-roads into the handicap deficit as Kane Grigg took the opening frame.

Keith Poston Jnr responded for the hosts to keep them a healthy lead before Steve Barton took a comfortable third frame to drag St John’s back into contention. But Gary Haynes then put in an excellent performance to beat Jack Harris by 44 points to leave St John’s 99 behind going into the final frame.

Robbie James gave it his best shot, but despite scoring 104 he fell agonisingly short as Danny Ludgate took the final black to see Stafford Road through by just 11 points.

Willenhall Liberal Club overcame a big handicap against the Amery Club. Adrian Rosa fired in a break of 82 in the opener before Simon Gough and Andy Price both won to further close the gap. Lee Bannister then put Libs in front and they held on (397-350) despite Brian Guest taking the final frame for Amery.

Division One side Poets Corner overturned a 119-point deficit away at Division Two oufit Landywood SC B. Pommy Kang, Dave Blunt, Mark Poole and Mark Archer combined for Poets.

The final match of the round saw Division One boys Athenaeum Club knock out Premier Division Stafford Institute. The hosts added to their handicap advantage by taking the first two frames through Matty Sargent and Jason Fletcher. Paul Edwards and Malcolm Wharne responded for Stafford, but Neil Harper took the final frame of the night for Athenaeum to seal a 416-363 victory.
