Hotshots are proving too hot for their rivals

Hotshots are charging towards glory in the Staffs & West Midlands League.

The made it a perfect 12 wins from 12, and moved 16 points clear of their nearest rivals, with a 3-2 success away to Wednesfield Cons A.

Callum Downing, with a break of 52, and Karl Ashmore put them in control at 2-0 up.

Wes Humphreys hit back for the hosts thanks to a fine run of 69, but Bal Sembi then sealed the deal for Hotshots. Robin Bood took the final frame.

Sedgley Ex-Service A are second after Simon Hickman, Andy Highfield, Gurdip Sidhu and Reanne Evans saw them to a 4-1 win against Willenhall Liberal A.

Sedgley WMC A also had a good night, winning 5-0 at Golden Cue A.

Stuart Pritchard, Rhys Lampitt, Richard Lampitt, Shaun Edwards and Andy Cambridgesecured the whitewash.

Baggeridge Social Club moved themselves five points clear of the drop zone after an excellent 5-0 win against Shifnal WM A. Dan Petch, David Hall (46), Jamie Spence, Justin Donoghue (44) and Eliott Bastable were on form.

There is a three-way tie at the top of Division Two after last week’s leaders Sedgley WMC C lost 3-2 at home to Kingswinford SC.

Sedgley WMC B are now joint leaders thanks to a 3-2 success over Goodyear A, with Mark Gilbert taking the deciding frame on the final black.

Shifnal WM B beat Poets Corner 4-1, with the highlight of the match being a fantastic break of 70 by Aaron Sparkes – the highest in the division this season.

Golden Cue B are five points clear at the top of Division Three.

They bounced back from their first defeat last season to beat Wednesfield Cons C 4-1 at home.

Pete Slatcher picked up the only win for the visitors before Cue took control through Ryan Hamilton, Adrian Holmes, Stephen Platt and Scott Smith.

Bloxwich Sports made it back-to-back wins with a 3-2 triumph at promotion rivals Coseley Ex-Service A.

Nick Roden took the decider to move Sports up to third place.

Goodyear B picked up a convincing 4-1 home win against Sedgley Ex-Service A. Phil Ward, Sam Bircher, Tom Hurst and Joe Hutton were the winners.
