Townsend claim superb whitewash

Reigning Stourbridge League champions, Townsend Social have struggled to find their touch in the first two months of this campaign, but they hit top form against Hotshots SC A, whose seven consecutive wins had taken them to the top of the Premier Division.

Townsend took all five frames, with the highlight being Karl Ashmore’s 99 break. Phil Thompson, Jamie Spence, Dave Thompson and Dan Petch completed the whitewash.

Baggeridge Social A beat Kingswinford Cons C 4-1, with Reanne Evans making a break of 46, and have joined Hotshots and Amblecote Institute A at the top of the table on 31 points.

Pockets SC A won 3-2 on the tables of West Midlands Police, Tom Pepperall impressing with a break of 57.

Norton Social B came through a difficult match away to Kinver Constitutional B, 3-2, to retain their three-point lead at the top of the First Division.

Andrew Brown and Luke Grosvenor put them 2-0 ahead but Ron Smith and Chris Randle levelled the scores, and they had to rely on Paul Bowen’s pink against Mark Dowler to secure a valuable win.

Kinver’s C team also edged a tight match, 3-2 away to Amblecote Institute C.

Pockets SC B, for whom Alan Turner and Jamie Shuck, who extended his winning sequence to nine, were in fine form, beat Moor Pool & Snooker 3-2.

Kinver’s A team took all five frames against Baggeridge Social B, with Graham Tranter taking his personal tally to nine wins from 10 games.

Bahia’s SC A beat Amblecote Institute D 4-1, with Reece Bahia and Jordan Macdivitt continuing their successful run of form, having lost only three times between them.

Kingswinford Cons A ended a run of six defeats, with a 3-2 success at home to Amblecote Institute B, thanks to Thomas Male, John Cowan and John Byng, lifting them above their opponents in the league table.
