Lions are flying on home soil
Stourbridge Lions kept up their perfect home record with a well-deserved win over local rivals Old Halesonians.
A 20-10 triumph over Hales leaves the Lions ninth in Midlands 1 West, with three victories from three at Stourton Park.
The hosts began on the front foot under the floodlights last Friday night, and Elliott Murphy put them ahead with a penalty. Hales, though, soon levelled.
A large portion of the first half was nip-and-tuck. However, the Lions had a half-time lead as George Tildesley put on the afterburners for a stellar try, Murphy converting.
And it was 17-3 shortly after the restart as Samuels broke away for the Lions' second try, with Murphy again adding the extras.
Credit to Hales who came back with renewed vigour, scoring their only converted try.
But Murphy struck again before the end, with his penalty making it 20-10 on a day where Matt Perks and brothers Freddie and Arthur Morgan also shone for the Lions with all-action displays.
